Dr. Ben Chue, MD

Dr Ben Chue

Ben Chue, M.D. received his undergraduate education from Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut, graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in Molecular Biophysics and Biochemistry. After several years of research studying the immune system, he went on to receive his medical degree at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF), followed by a residency in Internal Medicine and then a fellowship in Hematology/Oncology at the University of Washington and the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center in Seattle, Washington.

He has been involved in research at the Yale University School of Medicine, the National Institute of Health, UCSF, Rockefeller University in New York, and the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center in the areas of the immune system, nutrition, and cancer. He was also the medical director of the Seattle Cancer Treatment and Wellness Center, where he practiced and encouraged integrating traditional western medical oncology with naturopathy, acupuncture, and Chinese medicine. Dr. Chue is also a member of the member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO).

Dr. Chue’s goal is to develop more effective, better-tolerated treatments for cancer. He hopes to not only help his patients but spread the knowledge of his success to help cancer patients everywhere in our search to cure cancer. In order to accomplish this, he recognizes the benefits of certain types of treatment and is eager to adopt them, despite the fact that they may not be practiced regularly.

Dr. Chue has always been ahead of the curve when it comes to medicine. Several drug combinations and dosing regimens that he used in the past are now the standard treatment for certain diseases. For example, Dr. Chue used oxaliplatin, irinotecan, and 5-fluorouracil for the treatment of metastatic pancreatic cancer years before they were a standard treatment for the disease. He was also one of the first to use Herceptin, a revolutionary targeted therapy for HER2 positive breast cancer, in the early stage setting. He strives to always have the latest information about oncology drugs so that our patients can experience the best possible outcomes. He combines this information with individual patient needs and genetic profiles to create a personalized treatment plan.

Dr. Chue was an early user of targeted therapies, and he has been using metronomic chemotherapy, genetic targeted tests, innovative drug combinations, and immunotherapy for over 20 years. With these tools, he has been able to drastically improve his patient outcomes and their quality of life throughout treatment.
